Many technological advancements are not driven by specific customer needs, but rather by the curiosity of engineers and scientists to explore technical possibilities. The expertise of these individuals often leads to fascinating technological developments. However, there is often a lack of concrete ideas on how to utilize the technology. Alternatively, there may be preliminary ideas that have not yet been validated with real customers.

We have participated in a serius of projects involving newly developed technology from the Danish Technical University (DTU). In each of these cases, we have successfully discovered new and previously unconsidered use cases that have been validated with customer interest.

Our approach involves not only engaging with people we are familiar with, but also reaching out to a diverse range of potential customers. We employ a systematic and rigorous qualitative framework to ensure thorough exploration.

Additionally, it is worth noting that in academic and research settings, numerous discoveries are made. However, with the exception of life sciences, the majority of these discoveries fail to reach their full potential. This is primarily due to a lack of thorough examination of potential use cases, which is often not given the same level of rigor as the technology development process itself.
